Gakuran Controls Guide

Checked July 9, 2026. Learn the Gakuran keybinds, first practice route, and when to use block, dash, heavy attack, and your fighting style button.

Quick answer

Block, dash, then commit

For your first fights, learn F block and Q dash before chasing long combos. Gakuran rewards timing, spacing, and knowing what your current fighting style does.

Start with short M1 strings from left click. If the target blocks, stop mashing and reset with Q or pressure with R only when you are close enough.

Use T after you understand your current style. Boxing favors timing, Wrestling wants close-range control, Capoeira rewards movement, and Hakari asks for clean combo setup.

Keybinds

Gakuran control reference

Use this table while learning. Some buttons only matter in the right fight state, so do not treat every key as an opener.

Left click

Punch / M1 string

Use this to learn range, hit confirm, and when your target starts blocking.

R

Heavy attack

Use after pressure or a dash catch; avoid throwing it from too far away.

F

Block

Hold block when you expect M1 pressure, then look for a safe reset or punish.

Q

Dash

Dash to adjust spacing, escape pressure, or start a punish after a whiff.

T

Use style

Your fighting style changes what this button means, so compare it on the tier list.

Shift

Run

Use run to reposition before committing to a close-range exchange.

V

Carry

Use only when the fight state allows it; do not treat it as a neutral combat button.

B

Execute

A finish-state action, not a normal opener.

Alt

Phone

Opens phone systems when available; step out of pressure first.

Ctrl

Shift lock

Helpful for cleaner camera control in close fights.

Common mistake: panic heavy

R is useful, but a heavy attack from poor range is easy to punish. Use it after spacing or block pressure.

Common mistake: ignoring style fit

The T button changes with your style. A Boxing player and a Wrestling player should not take the same exchanges.

Common mistake: spending too soon

If Basic feels weak, claim codes first and use the calculator before burning rerolls.

FAQ

Combat questions

What are the main Gakuran combat controls?

Left click punches, R uses heavy attack, F blocks, Q dashes, T uses your style, Shift runs, V carries, B executes, Alt opens phone, and Ctrl toggles shift lock.

What should beginners practice first?

Practice blocking with F, dashing with Q, and landing short M1 strings before relying on heavy attacks or style moves.

Why does my style move feel different?

T depends on your current fighting style. Boxing, Wrestling, Hakari, Capoeira, Muay Thai, Slugger, Karate, and Basic all reward different timing.

Should I reroll before learning combat?

Usually no. Learn block, dash, and M1 range first, claim available codes, then use the style finder before spending rerolls.
